2014 · A Blogger blog with a Swiss accent
The first capture, January 2014, is a Blogger site titled BookCheapTravels.com: a handful of travel-tip posts in rewritten English (“Fall is a superb time for you to traverse Colonial”), with labels including Schweiz and Suisse alongside cheapflights and cheaptickets. Within months it had moved to WordPress under the tagline “Find the best flights and hotels deals!”.
2014–2022 · The machine
For eight years the WordPress site published several posts a day without, as far as the archive shows, anyone writing them: travel-tip articles passed through a synonym spinner, Creative-Commons landscape photos reposted with their Flickr credits, YouTube travel-video guides embedded with their descriptions, and “Travel goods” — Amazon, iTunes and later eBay listings pasted in as posts. Hotel, car-rental and flight pages carried affiliate search widgets, and an Android app of the same name appeared on Amazon in 2016. The homepage pagination counted the growth: 1,974 pages in 2017, 2,116 in 2019, 2,386 in 2020, 2,591 in 2021, 2,872 in January 2022.
2023 · For sale
By January 2023 the site was gone and the domain showed a Sedo parking page: “The owner of bookcheaptravels.com is offering it for sale for an asking price of 250 EUR!”
2025–2026 · Two clones
In January 2025 the homepage was a 770-kilobyte clone of a Thai computer-shop storefront with every heading replaced by a Thai online-casino keyword. From mid-2025 to the last captures in June 2026 the domain served a Chinese lifting-equipment company’s template — hooks, hoists, slings, chain links — under a random ten-character prefix, with 125 archived URLs. Neither had anything to do with travel.
2026 · A new owner
The domain was registered afresh on October 24, 2026 by its current owner, who has no connection to the blog, its operator or the later occupants. This site documents the record, redirects every archived old address to the page that describes it, and sells no flights, hotels, backpacks or anything else.
